The EMS Festa

Location: the EMS Festa of the 16th EMS / 11th ECAC will be held in the Caffè degli Specchi (Piazza dell'Unità d'Italia, 7, 34121 Trieste).

This EMS Festa will be a conference dinner of a special kind: we will have live music, from jazz to rock and disco later in the evening, for everyone who feels like dancing... the music will have to end by 11pm.

We will arrange a standing buffet: there will be chairs and tables for those who want to sit, but not for everyone at the same time. This is no take your seat and stick to it through three courses, but an event where you mingle and have ample opportunities to meet and speak to many people while moving around.

The location is one of the famous cafés in Trieste: the Caffè degli Specchi – the café of mirrors, situated on the Piazza dell’Unita d'Italia, a couple of steps away from the congress centre. If we are lucky, most of the EMS Festa will take place outside on a mild late-summer night. If we are unlucky, we will have a great disco and lots of fun inside.

The registration fee for the EMS Festa comprises

  • a buffet that contains a variety of vegetarian, meat, and poultry dishes: mignon sandwiches, frittata skewers, skewers of Hungarian salami and olives, skewers with turkey and artichoke heart, skewers with rolls of ham and cheese, stuffed olives, mixed small stuffed savoury pie, arancini, vol-au-vent with cream olives and coconut flakes, boats with cheese mousse, paninetti rainbow, caprese finger food, various canapés, fruit skewers, ...
  • First course : ravioli with Montasio cheese and mint
  • Trieste cooked ham in bread crust, with mustard and horseradish
  • 1 bottle of Prosecco di Valdobbiadene or still white or red wine from Collio for 5 persons, 1 jug of soft drink for 10 persons, and as much water as you want
Drinks in addition to this can be bought anytime from the waiters at the café; a variety of beer is available from the tap/bottled.

Registration

  • The standard price for participation is €40
  • Those registered at the student rate at the conference can register at the preferential rate for the EMS Festa: €30.
  • Places are sold on a first come first serve basis. The deadline for registration is 31 August 2016.
